We hear the lambs crying” God said, my shepherds go feed my sheep and place the food within their reach. The Book Hosea 4th chapter verse 5, says teach, because my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.

                                                                             OUR RENAISSANCE MISSION

BTW said like the 5 fingers on the hand for all things that are few we can be independent, but for things of the common good we must be a community.

We are building strong extended family and community oriented kinship bonds based on common experience, culture, and History, that all should be held accountable to know and understand.

Maya Angelou said,” I would be less than nothing without my community, whether they called me tender names, or caught me when I fell, they held on to life itself, the lesson I studied well. They gave me a sense of self and community, their whispers filled the air they said when you learn teach when you know preach, when you get, you have to share. We’re members of a community, we may not share one drop of blood, but we share common memories, we got common joys and tears hopes and fears that makes us community, so we must give each other the best we have, our wisdom must fill the air, when you learn teach when you know preach, when you get, you have to share.

The Booker T Washington Edutainment Curriculum  teaches Afrocentric History utilizing interactive music/artistic mediums, themes, interludes, and interpretations that reconnect us to our roots  throughout the Black diaspora, to the Motherland of Africa, and surrounding regions of the world. Booker T. Washington symbolizes a history of genius and dedication in academic and creative excellence despite the odds and regardless of the opposition. The Harlem Renaissance symbolizes the vital role of artistic and literary genius and dedication in defining and communicating lost  history and culture in the face of resistance.  From this union, the mission of our BTW Renaissance was born.

                 EXPLORE OUR RENAISSANCE VISION

We are people of vision; original thinkers for original conditions; the history makers; the makers of history; we are the future.

Our community scientists work to provide all that is needed for development and growth of our community; we are the first line builders; the workers, the creators, the historians, and the teachers, who are well received, understood, and appreciated by those who need us most.

Our VISION was conceived by elders; many being retired educators from the era of legalized segregation, who regretted during their sunset, that they never had an opportunity to learn, or teach from a core curriculum of Afrocentric History. So they decided that no longer will our generations remain locked inside, away from the sunshine, and the comforts of the glorious light of our own history.

We were inspired by the need to tell untold stories of the sacrifices and successes of ordinary people in our community; the many nameless faces of people who deserve nothing less than to be recognized for what they accomplished while they were here.

We were inspired by the 1964 Freedom School movement. The Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee)SNCC) and the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) created venues in underserved black communities to teach Afrocentric history in order to motivate social and political participation in the fight for freedom and equality for the race and for all people.

Freedom schools were established in local churches, storefronts, and vacant buildings to teach black history, social studies, reading, and development of leadership skills to black children and adults. More than 40 Freedom Schools were opened in 20 communities. More than 2000 students enrolled in classes led by 175 teachers; this is the vision of the BTW Renaissance .

You will recognize Conscious Community Scientists by the way we act and move and carry ourselves around others.

There will be unspoken answers in us. Confidence and awareness will illuminate around us and we will train others in this discipline.

We are called Historically Conscious Scientists because we are primarily on a journey of self discovery and our community is our laboratory.

Our Community Scientists share a love for learning and teaching  our own heritage

The relationship of history to a people is the same as the relationship between a Mother and her Child; we must know where we come from before we can know where we are going. A man’s life is not only the sum of all his actions, but it is the sum of all the hopes and dreams of those who came before him.

Community Scientists are inspired by untold stories of sacrifices and successes of ordinary people; the many nameless faces that had nothing else to leave to their children and community except their memory.

Countrymen, the task ahead is great indeed, and heavy is the responsibility; and yet it is a noble and glorious challenge - a challenge which calls for the courage to dream, the courage to believe, the courage to dare, the courage to do, the courage to envision, the courage to fight, the courage to work, the courage to achieve - to achieve the highest excellences and the fullest greatness of man. Dare we ask for more in life?

— Kwame Nkrumah

A society’s culture can only survive longer than the lifespan of its members if its educational system passes down the folkways and knowledge of one generation to subsequent generations. As we spread knowledge of black history throughout many communities for the first time, our Renaissance curriculum creates a genuine and meaningful love and respect for all things African.

          International Communications

Through the doorway of Black History, we must rediscover our ancient relationship with our world.
                                                     The world is our laboratory.

Our scientists facilitate cultural exchanges with Africa and throughout the diaspora because the world is our laboratory. Our Same Sun Family across the Sea Communications facilitates an international marketplace of artistic and business exchange opportunities that structure relationships between our scientists in the US and other Renaissance scientists across the sea. Our Renaissance Platform facilitates a wide range of correspondences and relationships in targeted regions of the world.

Renaissance scientists interact weekly to share unique aspects of our history, culture, current affairs, arts, and business exchange opportunities . International correspondents featured in our 1st edition of our “Renaissance Quarterly Magazine” include Rosmary Okello, a nurse in Kenya; Vuyi Mpufu, a corporate marketer in South Africa, and Julie Gipwolla, an employee of NATO in Sierra Leone.

EXPLORE THE BTW RENAISSANCE CURRICULUM

A regular dose of Grandma's root knowledge will retool our generations, keep us intact, moving in the right direction, and get us back on track.

Today we sit at our ancestor's feet sharing their knowledge and wisdom on our streets; in neighborhoods where most teachers are afraid to go, where people live that many of today's teachers are even afraid to know.

Our BTW Renaissance curriculum is designed to teach Black history chronologically starting from our earliest known beginnings and unfolds step by step to our current generation.

Creative,  interactive,  collaborative, and economically purposeful learning styles advance the learning process far beyond what is possible in lecture-based instructional settings and are designed to prosper individuals, family, and community.

We have devised simulative materials, lesson plans, and educational materials that present a clear and precise historical continuum that all can know and understand.

We emphasize critical thinking, and analytical skill development through self-directed action-based  assignments.

The knowledge base of  participating scientists is regularly and systematically evaluated utilizing

structured data. Each Scientist must satisfy basic requirements for overall progress and comprehension.

It takes an opened mind to receive the truth

Despite misconceptions created by the media, we must restore our true identity, reconnect to the truth of our original African heritage, and no longer be misled by the untruths, misconceptions, and prejudices of others.

Because our children are only taught European history, and only exposed to Black history through the eyes and views of European culture, vital details regarding the truth of African and European history are omitted and misrepresented.

The growth and success of many African Americans is stunted by the negative manner in which we are most often portrayed by the media.

The truth that we are the Fathers and Mothers of all civilization; spirituality, science, math, arts and the highest degrees of culture that have ever existed on this planet earth is never told.

We have been mislead by others to believe that Afrocentric history is primitive, unworthy of learning, and sad to teach, or be associated with.

Today these untruths and omissions continue to create disinterest and distain for Afrocentric history that causes our Black community and others as well, especially our younger generations to discard it, disrespect it, and disassociate from it at all costs.

We answer key questions, like how do we learn about our ancestors and preserve our history for our generations; how do we learn how to treat each other as brothers and sisters; how do we interact with one another; how do we communicate in a healthy way with each other; how do we resolve conflict in a healthy way; and how do we create a community whose members once again truly love and trust one another with our lives.

Our Renaissance Platform is constructed as a vast united front of concerned and dedicated people working together to accomplish one mission; making curriculum based education in Afrocentric history available to our generations throughout the year.

Our united front is composed of a wide range of social, religious, business, professional, and educational organizations and individuals working together to share valuable perspectives of Black history with our community; not here and there, not for  one day, not for one week, not for one short month, but 365 days of the year, with the seriousness and dedication deserved by all subjects that are vital to the welfare and survival of our people and our community.

Our Ancestors and Elders are the Heartbeat and Inspiration of our Mission
                                 HOW IT WORKS

Our BTW Renaissance Curriculum is structured from our oldest African traditions, we learn Afrocentric History through creative expression, storytelling, music, arts crafts and entertainment to teach and pass forward vital history, culture, and information from generation to generation. Our mission is to teach a body of knowledge that our children and our community must be held accountable to know and understand to become fully informed and competent men and women.

Before the pandemic our curriculum was only facilitated from historically significant brick and mortar classroom venues such as North Carolina Central University. We are now completing our mission by again facilitating Renaissance forums from selected venues that are historically significant within targeted communities. Currently, we are facilitating a redesigned curriculum that features Renaissance forums online to connect communities that are miles and oceans apart. Renaissance scientists sharpen related knowledge and skill development through classroom competitions, game play, poetry, spoken word, role play, debates and other challenges that generate financial rewards.

To be correctly understood Afrocentric history must be presented as it unfolds incrementally, step by step. No one can begin a book in the middle of a story and expect to correctly comprehend the truth of the story, or the moral to be learned from the story. Consequently, Renaissance forums are completed during  16 week (4 month cycles). After the initiation of a 4 month forum session cycle, no additional persons will be permitted to enter our Renaissance forum space as a participant, however additional observers may be admitted at any time upon request. Additional forums may be initiated at any time upon the expressed interest and scheduling availability of a required number of interested forum scientists. At the end of each 4 month forum cycle, each attendee may re enlist to repeat the forum cycle for purposes of review and reinforcement, or to assist as guides and instructors for new forum participants. Additionally, successful forum attendees  may enlist in our advanced Renaissance curriculum for an additional 4month cycle. The advanced curriculum forum is substantially more detailed and complex than the beginner’s forum in terms of discussion and analysis of more advanced historical concepts.

Our Renaissance Curriculum Platform agenda features General interest and Special interest Edutainment History forums.  While some of our Renaissance scientists are motivated by more generalized interest in Afrocentric History, others are more so motivated by special interest in certain aspects of Afrocentric history.

 Special Interest History Forums

Renaissance Special Interest History Forums share a full range of Afrocentric history in learning styles that motivate participation from selected interest groups. We utilize learning styles, themes, interludes, mediums, and interpretations most familiar to particularized interests and motivations to promote greater involvement. Creative vision for special interest practitioners is enhanced from increased exposure to  selected aspects of Afrocentric history and cultural perspectives .

Our AFROCENTRIC HISTORY WITH MUSIC ON TOP format demonstrates how music is useful and effective in analyzing and interpreting Afrocentric history.  Our MUSIC ON TOP formats include our AFROCENTRIC HISTORY WITH JAZZ ON TOP; and our AFROCENTRIC HISTORY WITH HIP HOP and REGGIE ON TOP.

Our AFROCENTRIC HISTORY WITH MUSIC ON TOP forum format demonstrates how music is useful and effective in the analysis and interpretation of Afrocentric history and how music can change, move, inspire and affect audiences interested in learning more about Afrocentrism. While Renaissance forums simultaneously analyze and discuss Afrocentric history, musicians and enthusiasts among themselves also analyze, discuss, selected musical accompaniment in our efforts to communicate underlying subject matter in ways otherwise difficult to do through verbal language alone.

Rewards from Creative Enterprise

Our greatest natural resource is our own creative ability to produce, market, and distribute, products of value that are worthy of financial exchange within our own community. Incentives for our scientists to produce quality work, not only include instant financial rewards, but also future potentials from international exposure made possible by our International Renaissance Platform. Renaissance scientists are challenged to create well received works of art and literature that reflects the Afrocentric essence of our studies. The creative projects of each Renaissance scientist must be designed to educate, inform, inspire, entertain, and ignite a quest for more knowledge. Renaissance guidelines allow for the widest possible ranges of creativity for each project. . Project examples include but are not limited to: arts and crafts, paintings, sculptures, collages, greeting cards; graphic arts for clothing such as tee shirts, hats etc, formatted features and productions on DVDs and CDs such as music, spoken word, photography, videos, and literature etc.

Each scientist establishes prices for their own work and recoups all proceeds from each sale that our Renaissance Platform facilitates on their behalf.

Rewards from Competition

Energetic competitions in the form of debates games and contests also offer monetary incentives to motivate our scientists towards greater knowledge acquisition and excellence.

Our Renaissance Platform assists our scientists in marketing, distribution, and sale of each creative format they produce. In exchange we request our scientists to donate something from their financial rewards to help support our Renaissance Curriculum agenda. Our scientist’s creations are marketed, sold, and distributed through our International Renaissance platform marketplace store. Renaissance scientist price their own work to determine their own financial returns. On behalf of our scientists, potential purchasers are contacted by our organization, including members of our vast Renaissance platform. We reach out to members of our vast Board of Directors, Advisory Boards, Platform membership, and supporting business, social and educational organizations and communities. We market and promote the work of our scientists through our Renaissance Website, our Renaissance Quarterly print Magazine, called “Renaissance Migrations”, live events, and daily promotions to target and facilitate sales for each Renaissance scientist.

Our Renaissance Platform is very successful in producing sales for our scientists because of our proven marketing strategies. We simply advertise the truth of our mission. Our Renaissance Platform is intentionally constructed to facilitate a vast international united front of supporters working together for one mission; teaching Black history to our community by means of a well organized curriculum throughout the year.

Renaissance supporters are motivated to purchase the creative work of our scientists for many different reasons. Our work serves as quality commemorative keep sakes, or gifts to be passed forward throughout our community from generation to generation to help us remember, educate, inform, inspire, entertain, and ignite a quest for more knowledge in our youth and our elders alike. Others are motivated to make purchases simply because they support our mission, our reason for doing what we’re doing, and our effort to make a necessary difference in the lives of many people. Whereas our public school systems will not allow us to utilize our own tax dollars to teach our history to our children and our community; many now realize that we must find our own way.

It is through our united front that we flow vital knowledge and information into the deserts of our community. Meanwhile we offer public recognition for each purchase made as a demonstration of support for our mission. Each purchase not only supports and encourages our community to learn our history, but it rekindles our ancient spirit of entrepreneurial exchange and barter and trade in our community.  Each sale promotes the sharing of quality educationally based products and tools which serve as excellent gifts and keepsakes that inspire, educate, entertain and promote greater cultural unity and understanding among our family, friends, and associates, each day of the year.

Our Renaissance Platform also sponsors regularly scheduled community forums in targeted locations to feature the work of our scientists. These events facilitate purchasing opportunities  from our scientists, and incorporates our community at large into our classroom experience.

Scientists in each Renaissance forum must schedule to attend 2 hour classes one night each week;
